The site was launched on 1st April, 2012, as part of the celebrations marking the 100th birthday of Tilbury Town in Essex. The project was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and is part of the South-East Essex Community Archive Network. It aimed to collect a wide range of memories, photographs and objects over an initial two year period; it has now grown to more than fifteen hundred pages. In 2018, it was re-launched with a WordPress-based responsive design built by CommunitySites.
