Our Warwickshire is one of the biggest websites that we have worked on. This county-wide site contains thousands of old photos, stories, memories, maps and details of historic sites. The content has been uploaded by local people, museums and archives.
A striking feature of the site is the overlays of historic maps onto the hundreds of modern maps on the site. These maps show the locations of particular heritage material for particular places and topics. For example, you can find a map of the windmills and watermills around the county
More details about Our Warwickshire
CommunitySites won the tender to create the pilot site for this ambitious regional project. We also provided a consultancy service that helped
Heritage and Culture Warwickshire win further funding from the
Heritage Lottery Fund for the second and final stage of the project. In the second phase, the community content created during the pilot was combined with a database of thousands of old photos and details of thousands of historic sites from the Historic Environment Record. The Our Warwickshire website will be displayed on kiosks in the re-designed museum at the Market Hall, Warwick.
