Harpenden and District Local History Society was founded in 1973 with the intention of researching and recording Harpenden’s history and making it known by means of meetings, publications and exhibitions. The Society’s website was built by CommunitySites back in 2010 as a natural extension of the society’s aims, and enables users to contribute their memories and stories. It continues to grow and had nearly 800 pages at the last count.
