What can we do for community heritage?

A quick introduction

CommunitySites specialises in community heritage projects. Whether you’re a small local group or you’re setting up a large national or regional project, we can help.

Our cataloguing software

Our cataloguing software make it easy for you to catalogue your collection in a consistent and standards-compliant way online. See the Letter in the Attic catalogue for an example.

Our interactive website software

Our website software allows you to create an online ‘showcase’ for your collection, so that online visitors can interact with the collection (by adding comments, uploading their own photos and text etc.).  See the My Brighton and Hove website for an example.

Our networks of sites

Our network solution allows groups of sites to be linked together to form a network. A central master site can display material drawn from any of the sites, presenting ‘picks of the network’ and ‘what’s new’ across all the sites in the group. The Herts Memories network project will be launched in September 2009.

Our open source solutions

When appropriate, we use open source software to offer groups an attractive online presence at an affordable price. We’ve recently been commissioned to create an online showcase for a group of museums in Cambridgeshire.

Our cheap hosting solutions

The main headache for many community projects is sustainability. Watch this space!  We have plans to allow cheap hosting for large quantities of data, by taking advantage of cutting edge online data storage facilities. Contact us for details.
