Mandeville Legacy
High standards of accessibility for a site about the paralympics
The Mandeville Legacy website is a celebration of Stoke Mandeville's role as the birthplace of the Paralympic movement. The site was commissioned by the Centre for Buckinghamshire Studies.
The website needed to provide high standards in accessibility, so that it would be user-friendly for all audiences. It meets the W3C's Web Content Accessibility Guidelines Level Double-A, and implements many Triple-A Level standards too.
High accessibility standards can present design challenges, as compromises need to be made in the appearance of the site in order to maximise usability for all visitors. However, the Mandeville Legacy site succeeds in achieving high accessibility while retaining a striking visual design.
