Around the country, People's Record projects are collecting photos, stories and views related to the 2012 Olympics and uploading them to the website. CommunitySites have customised the open-source Omeka cataloguing software to make it easier to use and compatible with the community archive cataloguing guidelines.

A key requirement was accessibility and the site's technology has been accredited by the Shaw Trust, one of the leading providers of Web Accessibility Services in the UK.
