The master site has just been launched. The project is run by Hertfordshire Archives and Local Studies with funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Folkemuseet, Denmark
We’re creating a community heritage website for a museum in Denmark. In an exciting development, we have created a live feed to drawn in records and images stored in the central Danish cultural database. This will be combined on the website with content contributed by local people about the area of North Zealand.
Living Archive
The Living Archive in Milton Keynes is one of the longest-established and best known community heritage organisations in the country. It is using CommunitySites cataloguing software to organise its archive and display it online. Later this year, the Living Archive will also launch a new website based on CommunitySites software. This website will include a live feed from the catalogue and combine the archive content with content contributed by website visitors.
Brighton and Hove Black History 'Time and Place' Project
CommunitySites are delighted to be creating an oral history website for the Brighton Black History group. The site is nearing launch and present the experiences of nurses who were recruited by the NHS from the former colonies during the 1950s and 1960s.
Westminster Archives
Westminster Archives have commissioned CommunitySites to create a new community heritage website based on memories of Church Street, Westminster. It is hoped this will be the first in a series of sites about the Westminster area.
Sussex Deaf History
CommunitySites are creating a website for and about the deaf community in Sussex. The website was commissioned by the Our Space project, which is exploring spaces to bring deaf and hard of hearing people together.
Ashwell Museum
We are creating a new heritage website for this long-established village museum. The website will be based on CommunitySites software and incorporate an online display of the museum’s collection using CommunitySites cataloguing software, using data exported from MODES.
Cambridge Life Museums
CommunitySites won the contract to develop a joint ‘news and events’ site for three Cambridge Museums. The site has been built using the popular Wordpress open source software and will allow the three museums to keep their information up-to-date easily and quickly.
Fens Museums
CommunitySites won the tender to develop this community heritage website telling the stories of the Fens. The project is being developed for the Fens Museums Partnership and will combine content from museum exhibitions with stories and photo contributed by the general public.
St Albans Out of Sight, Out of Mind
This website will record the history of the former mental hospitals in the St Albans area including, Hill End, Napsbury, Cell Barnes, Harperbury, Leavesden and Shenley. It is a community site that will include contributions from anyone who has recollections of any of these hospitals.
Our Broxbourne People’s Record project
This project will be a community heritage website in Hertfordshire and will form part of the Herts Memories CommunitySites network. The project is also contributing to the 2012 People’s Record collection – a national archive recording the people’s experience of the 2012 Olympics. CommunitySites cataloguing software will record and export the Our Broxbourne collection in a format that can be instantly imported by the People’s Record.
Embassy Court
This is a new website for the Embassy Court resident’s association in Brighton. Built with Wordpress, it will allow the committee to easily update the site and present the history and activities of the building in an attractive and compelling way. We are creating a private area of the site for owners and residents.
