Hackney Society

A linked website and project site

The Hackney Society works to preserve Hackney's unique heritage and make the area a better place in which to live and work.

The Society chose CommunitySites to build a new website after hearing we had won two international awards for Best Community Site and Best Small Museum site.

The original commission was to create a website for a major project about the history of health in Hackney. This will be launched in 2010. However, in the meantime, we managed to make the budget extend to moving the Society's main site onto our software so it would  be easier to edit. 

A few months after launch, the main website won the Walter Bor Media Award from the London Forum of Civic Societies. 

Lisa Rigg of the Hackney Society said: "Three or four societies came to speak to me after to find out more about CommunitySites. They were very impressed that we had a site that was easy to maintain."
