Networks of community archives
Planning a major project?
Set up a network of community archives
Our software allows groups of projects to be linked together to form a network. Each local project can have its own website and catalogue, under local control. In addition, a central master site can display material drawn from any of the sites, presenting features such as ‘picks of the month’ and ‘what’s new’ lists drawn from all the sites in the group.
Give your network an online catalogue
Our cataloguing software allows all the local groups in the network to catalogue their collections in a consistent and standards-compliant way online. They can import their data from offline records (such as spreadsheets) and export their data in a format used by professional archives. They can also display their catalogues attractively, complete with images and multimedia files. See the Letter in the Attic catalogue for an example.
Give your network an online showcase
Our website software allows each group to create an online ‘showcase’ website for their collections, so that online visitors can interact with the collections (add comments, upload their own photos and text etc.). See the My Brighton and Hove website for an example.
Connect your network to the software you use already
We can also link our software up with other third-party software. For example, we are currently integrating our website software to import data from the Danish national cultural database, Regin. Our cataloguing software can export data in the EAD format which is used by archives around the world, and so can easily exchange data with other commonly used cataloguing software, such as CALM.
